What's the first thing you do when you wake up?

In partnership with

I remember when I was in middle school the very first thing I did when I woke up. Straight up blue light on my eyes. Not even letting my body to fully wake up relaxed and over the years it got worse. It became sort of an addiction that I felt that I was missing out if I didn’t checked what was on social media. šŸ˜‚

Here are some things that happen if you keep doing it:

Tired Wake Up GIF by Will & Grace
  • Spikes cortisol levels

    • High Cortisol levels can lead to increased fat storage and sadly it goes in the section we hate the most (midsection)

  • Dopamine Hijack āž”ļø Less Discipline

    • The brain works in mysterious ways, but I’ve found that it craves dopamine, which is associated with feelings of pleasure. However, if you seek dopamine from the wrong sources, like constantly checking what your crush posted, it results in delayed gratification. Over time, this can lead to a lack of motivation, procrastination, and inconsistent habits.

  • Higher chances of Lower back problems and Posture šŸ¤•

    • Instead of hydrating, stretching, or exercising, you decide to hunch over your phone, with your neck bent and back rounded while sitting on the edge of your bed. This posture only reduces your movement and lowers your calorie burn throughout the day.

But I know……………………..it’s hard: 🫠

But it’s all you who is only make it harder on yourself

why?

When was the last time you slept 8 hours? (i’m talking about deep sleep too)

When was the last time you blocked off any blue light 1 hour before sleep?

When was the last time you had your last meal at least 1 hour and 30 minutes before bed?

I can go so on and so on but if you want to learn more I recommend to check this out šŸ‘‡ļø

I’m not sure if you’ve heard about Keiani Mabe (Fitness influencer)

But I’ve recently been watching her on Youtube and I love her so much! šŸ˜

Here’s her morning routine she I see her do all the time:

  1. Wake Up & Hydration (6:00 - 6:30 AM)

    • Drinks a full glass of water with himalayan pink salt after sleep

    • Includes a green powder or apple cider vinegar for digestion

  2. Morning Physique Check & Content Planning (6:30 - 7:00 AM)

    • She’s shared morning physique check-ins, and let me tell you she always looks better every day.

    • Uses this time to plan TikTok/Instagram content (e.g, workout clips, diet tips)

    • She sometimes responds to Dms, emails, or client check-ins if she has personal training clients.

  3. Pre- Workout Meal for Training (7:00 - 7:30 AM)

    • If she eats before training:

      • A small high protein, low fat meal (e.g, eggs & turkey bacon or a protein smoothie)

      • Likely 60-90 minutes before the gym to avoid bloating

    • If she trains fasted:

      • She would drink black coffee or pre-workout for energy.

  4. Workout Session (7:30 - 9:00 AM)

    • Gym 5 - 7x per week, mostly trains with weights

      • Leg days: Squats, RDLs, hip thrusts, leg press, deadlifts

      • Upper body days: Pull ups, presses, rows, bicep and tricep curl and extensions

      • Core Work: Weighted ab exercises

    • Cardio:

      • Some days she includes 10-20 minutes incline walking or stair climbing

  5. Post-Workout Recovery & Nutrition (9:00 - 9:30 AM)

    • Has her protein + carbs for muscle recovery:

      • Protein shake + banana or oatmeal with protein powder

      • Takes supplements (creatine, omega-3s, vitamins)

  6. Shower, Skincare & Content Creation (9:30 - 10:00 AM)

    • Showers quickly and skincare routine

    • Uses this time to film fitness content if she hasn’t already

    • Starts editing or planning the next TikTok/ IG post

I know, huh? It’s a lot, but it’s so simple and effective. I’m personally excited to try this routine for myself, maybe earlier, since I have other things getting in the way. But you don’t need to follow a crazy morning routine—just a routine with healthy habits that give you good dopamine and set the day for you.

Maybe for you, it’s waking up, hydrating, using the bathroom, washing your face, doing skincare, then stretching or doing some active yoga.

Maybe it’s waking up, praying, hydrating, using the bathroom, eating your pre-workout meal, and while it’s digesting, cleaning your room, finishing up your personal work, then going to work out.

Everyone has different routines; I just like to share the experiences that I dealt with that were bad in the long run, and if I can somehow help someone to prevent or fix it, by all means, I’ll keep posting and making videos for y’all.

But remember to stay focused, be patient, work hard, otherwise goodluck.
